Read this if you want it to actually work on TikTok.
- Add your music into your edit before exporting. TikTok's own audio will not survive the upload.
- Run your export through HandBrake first — this is required, not optional. A raw export gets downgraded to 720p 30 even after patching. HandBrake cleans the file into the format TikTok keeps at full quality. Use the free Kayn preset below — don't guess the settings.
- Do not edit the video inside TikTok after uploading. Editing in TikTok forces a re-encode and ruins the quality.
- Upload the patched file from your PC browser at tiktok.com/upload, not the mobile app.
- After uploading, TikTok may show your video in low quality for a few minutes while it finishes processing. This is normal. Give it some time and it will sharpen up to full quality.

The preset is sized for a ~30 s clip (~80 MB). For other lengths, set Video → Avg Bitrate to match: 15s → 43000, 20s → 32000, 30s → 22000, 45s → 14000, 60s → 10500 (kbps). Shorter clips look sharper — there's more bitrate per frame.
Adding a promo sound on TikTok?
Adding a sound inside TikTok normally re-compresses your video. Get the Kayn browser extension if you need to add a promo / trending sound — it lets you post with the sound without TikTok re-encoding, so your quality stays. (Chrome / Edge, load unpacked — see the README inside.)

What exactly does this preserve on TikTok?+
Both resolution and framerate. TikTok normally caps your upload to 720p, 30 fps regardless of what you sent in. With the Kayn Method, your full 1080p (or 4K) at 60 fps (or 120 fps) gets through 1:1 with your source.
Does it work for 4K and 120 fps too?+
Yes. The method supports the full range — 1080p 60, 1080p 120, 4K 60, and 4K 120. For the closed beta server you'll want shorter clips so the export stays under 100 MB (1080p 60 fps at ≤30 s is the easy zone; 4K 60 fps fits if you keep it under ~15 s).
Will my video play any differently after patching?+
No. Same quality, same duration, same audio, same colors. The patched file is the same length and plays identically — your video editor and any player you open it in will see no difference.
Do I have to use HandBrake?+
Strongly recommended. The bypass works most reliably on a HandBrake Production Max / x265 / CQ 20 export under 100 MB. Other encoders may work; HandBrake is the well-tested path.
Why is the upload limit 100 MB?+
We're hosting on a small server for the closed beta. The patcher needs about 4× your file size in RAM during the operation (input buffer + output buffer + working copies). 100 MB fits comfortably; bigger files would crash the server. A CQ 20 HandBrake export of a 30-second 1080p 60 fps clip lands around 60–80 MB, which is plenty of headroom.
Why does it only work from desktop tiktok.com/upload?+
The TikTok mobile app does an extra transcoding pass on every video before submission. That pass undoes the patch. The desktop web upload skips it.
Will TikTok add a watermark or caption to my post?+
No. We don't add anything to your file, and we don't touch your TikTok caption. Whatever you type in TikTok's caption box is what gets posted.
How long do you keep my video?+
One hour, then it's deleted automatically. No accounts, no analytics, no third parties.
